Training

 Pawsitive Puppy Program

Creature Comforts is now excited to offer Puppy Preschool training classes, as part of our Pawsitive Puppy Program.  The goal is to teach people how to positively manage and train their dogs to become well-mannered members of the family.  Come learn to listen to your dog, so that your dog will listen to you!

These 6-week sessions will allow owners to establish a foundation of training knowledge to help create a positive bond and trusting relationship between you and your pup.  Classes will provide a framework for dogs to learn basic obedience commands that can be used in a variety of applications, including but not limited to, learning how to calm down, respect boundaries, listen to their people, and prevent the development of undesirable behaviors like jumping, nipping, pulling on the leash, etc.  Owners will also receive guidance on crate training, house training, leashes/collars/harnesses, and specifics on reading dog body language in various situations. Additionally, each class will include a structured play period, with aspects of desensitization and enrichment.

This program is designed for puppies 10 weeks to 1 year of age.  Pups must be up to date on age-appropriate shots and have proof of Distemper, Parvovirus, Bordetella and Rabies vaccinations, as well as a recent parasite-free fecal test.

Puppy Preschool runs on Sundays from 11am – 11:45am (30 mins training session, 15 mins enrichment and Q&A).

By signing up for training classes, you are also eligible for a $10 discount on any Saturday Puppy Playcare booked during your 6 week training session.  This will allow your puppy to maximize their socialization during key developmental periods.

ABOUT

All programs are instructed by trainer, Kathy Streeter, of animalsRsmart.  Our owner, Erin, and Kathy worked together for 10 years at the New England Aquarium and they are so excited to be pairing up again! Kathy has spent more than four decades in the marine mammal field training animals from orca whales to sea lions and dolphins to sea turtles.  She recently has transitioned her focus to the canine world, and has spent the past few years studying with Pack of Paws, and working on agility and trick training, herding, puppy basics and AKC Canine Good Citizen training.  Kathy is canine CPR certified, and also volunteers training service dogs in her spare time.

Her favorite thing about working with any animal is training through play!  She has the knowledge, experience, and love for animals to help you and your pup build a healthy and confident relationship!
